Charter harbor "Marina Saartropez"
The charter harbor "Marina Saartropez" is located at the east side of the beautiful city of Saarbrücken, near Saar-Kilometer 90.2 and directly next to the Ostspangenbrücke. Built in 2001, the 86-meter pier offers space for up to 25 boats and yachts.
Here the S.A.L.T. Yacht starts the training for sports boat licenses and it is the home port of charter boats and lock training. There is a community of private boat residents. Houseboats are also in the charter harbor all year round. There is electricity, water supply and WiFi.
Access to the port facilities is only permitted to residents.

The boats are open, have space for up to 4 people and are easy to drive.
With an engine power of 3.67 KW (<5 HP) they reach the maximum speed of 10 km / h on the Saar.

Locks and skipper training on the Saar and the french channels
You have the choice between the large locks on the shipping route towards Saarlouis or the Peniche locks on the canalized Saar towards Saargemünd. Our instructor Mr. Heiner Meyer shows you how to safely steer the boat, lock, moor and behave correctly on the Saar.
During the three-hour training you navigate along the German-Peniche Lock, Güdingen and the French Peniche Lock Grosbliederstroff or the Large Lock Burbach.
During the six-hour training training you navigate all locks from Saarbrücken to Saargemünd or the large lock Burbach as well as the German Peniche lock Güdingen and the French Peniche lock Grosbliederstroff.
Dates:
The lock training costs 110€ per hour for the entire boat and a maximum of 11 participants. Three-hour and six-hour appointments can be booked from 10:00 a.m.
Saarbrücken, Saarland and surroundings
The university city Saarbrücken has a very special and international flair thanks to its location and eventful history. The city also has a lot to offer from a culinary point of view, in addition to numerous restaurants with diverse international cuisine, quaint pubs e.g. at the Sankt Johanner Markt and of course Saarland specialties, the city also meets high demands. It is unique in the world that there are 5 Michelin stars on a route of 500 meters. The Klaus Efort guest house with three stars and the two star restaurant Le Noir can be found near to the harbor on Mainzer Strasse.
Culturally, the city offers countless opportunities from the Saarland State Theater to a variety of festivals, like the Saar Spectacle. There is something for every taste.
The beautiful waterfront promenades, parks and beach clubs and the large city with numerous shops, located directly on the Saar, invite you to relax, stroll and shop.
In the surroundings of Saarbrücken you can find sights such as the Saarpolygon in Saarlouis, the Völklinger Hütte and the countless „Traumschleifen“ that not only delight experienced hikers. A visit to the Fashion Outlet Zweibrücken is recommended for shopping.
In any case, a trip to the largest recreational water in southwestern Germany, the Bostalsee, is worthwhile, thanks to its location it offers ideal conditions for sailing and windsurfing. With its 120 hectares, varied nature and optimal transport, the lake is also one of the most beautiful areas for Stand Up Paddling (SUP). The two sandy beaches are suitable for swimming and sunbathing.
The neighboring France and also Luxembourg have a lot to offer and can be easily reached both on land and by boat.
Saar, Moselle and the french channels
From the charter port, wonderful excursions and tours by boat can be made.
In the direction of France you can explore the Saar Channel (old Saar-Coal Channel) with its many, mostly hand-operated locks and the 45-meter-long Sarrealbe Bridge. In a day you can comfortably reach the beautiful city of Saargemünd. If you want to take more time, you can can stop along the channel and explore the surroundings.
A longer tour takes you to the Rhine-Marne Canal, drives your boat through two tunnels to the spectacular Arzviller boat lift. With this one you can overcome 44.55 m, which previously required 17 locks. An unforgettable experience!
If you drive north from Saarbrücken, the Saar reaches Dillingen and Merzig, each with its own harbor, and the beautiful Saar loop with its spectacular treetop path.
You can moor directly in Mettlach to visit the Keravision ceramic museum and the outlet center of the oldest factory in Germany, Villeroy & Boch. Then you pass the Serrig barrage, the largest barrage on a natural river course at 14.5 meters, to get to the beautiful historic wine town of Saarburg. At Konz, with its own harbor, the Saar flows into the Moselle, and through wide river valleys, surrounded by vineyards, you will reach the city of Trier. The port of Monaise is in the upper water of the lock. You should definitely take some time to visit Germany's oldest city: the historic city center, with the main market, the "living room" of the city, the Judengasse and of course the world-famous Porta Nigra, which was founded by the Romans in 170 AD. A tour to immerse yourself in the history of the Romans or Karl Marx.
After Trier you can reach beautiful Luxembourg, a very special country with many different people and languages. The Grand Duchy also has a lot to offer historically and culturally, the top-equipped harbor of Schwebsingen with a boat filling station is the only harbor for pleasure boats on the Luxembourg Moselle.
