The SALT sailing school at Bostalsee has a large training center in the lake administration building since 2005. In addition to the training rooms and its own large workshop, SALT maintains a fleet of 13 sailing yawls of the types Flying Cruiser and FAM as well as a Hobi Kat 16, which are both used for training and rented.

The Bostalsee is one of the few leisure lakes in Germany that is ideal for sailing and also has a lot to offer. It is known and popular not only regionally but far beyond the borders of the Saarland. Due to the perfect connections by car, but also by train, there are regular day trippers and guests from the Rhine-Main area, Mannheim / Heidelberg, Luxembourg or the nearby France.
